About Dr. Mulholland

Dr. R. Stephen Mulholland is the owner and director of SpaMedica Infinite Vitality Clinics. Dr. Mulholland attended undergraduate university in Michigan, at Lake Superior State University. Dr. Mulholland excelled in the classroom, where he studied pre-medicine, majoring in Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Mulholland finished at Lake Superior State University winning the Summa Cum Laude Gold Medal, with a GPA of 3.97.

In 1984 Dr. Mulholland was accepted into the prestigious University of Toronto Medical School. Dr. Mulholland graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1988, winning the Frank Horner Silver Medal and was accepted into the University of Toronto Plastic Surgical Residency Program. Dr. Mulholland completed his Plastic Surgery training in 1994.

Dr. Mulholland is a Plastic Surgeon, certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. After a full residency and training in plastic surgery, Dr. Mulholland completed two additional years of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Craniofacial Trauma training, becoming an Oncologic Head and Neck Surgeon, certified by the American Joint Societies of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery. Dr. Mulholland is one of only a very few surgeons in North America with this dual certification and specialized training.

After residency and fellowship training, Dr. Mulholland accepted a consultant’s position at the Hamilton Regional Cancer Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital, Division of Plastic Surgery and Head and Neck Surgical Oncology. During this time, Dr. Mulholland specialized in the treatment of complex cosmetic, reconstructive and oncologic deformities of the face, head, and neck. Dr. Mulholland soon became well known for his expert management and cosmetic reconstruction of nasal, orbital and facial defects resulting from trauma or cancer. Dr. Mulholland developed and published his own technique for reconstruction of large jaw and tongue defects after cancer called “The Osteocutaneous Shin Flap Technique”.

Dr. Mulholland became director and subsequent owner of SpaMedica® in 1996. In 1998, Dr. Mulholland left reconstructive surgery, to devote his whole practice and attention to cosmetic plastic surgery, where he uses his extensive training and expertise to solve challenging expertise to solve challenging cosmetic surgery problems of the face, neck and body. Over the past few years, Dr. Mulholland has quickly risen to become one of Canada's most talented and sought after cosmetic plastic surgeons. During this time, Dr. Mulholland has built SpaMedica® into Canada's leading center for aesthetic medical services.

Dr. Mulholland travels abroad frequently to lecture and teach aesthetic laser and cosmetic medical techniques to physicians from around the world. In the year 2000 alone, Dr. Mulholland visited Asia, Europe and the United States over 50 times, advancing the knowledge base of cosmetic physicians of those countries. Dr. Mulholland has also lectured to over 100 learned medical societies and has published over 20 plastic surgery articles in peer reviewed journals and has authored two book chapters and three textbooks on various aesthetic cosmetic techniques.

Recognized as one of Canada’s leading experts on endoscopic management of the aging face, endoscopic breast augmentation and ultrasonic liposuction, Dr. Mulholland has pioneered many aging facial and nasal surgical techniques. Dr. Mulholland is widely regarded for his aesthetic, tasteful and artistic restoration of natural facial beauty. Dr. Mulholland has appeared on many regional and National Television shows, including CBC, CTV, CFTO-Global, City TV, Life Network, Discovery Channel, TWN, Flare TV, as well as in The Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Toronto Star, The Toronto Sun, Canadian Living Magazine, Toronto Fashion, Flare, Homemakers, Toronto Life Magazine and MacLean’s. Dr. Mulholland and SpaMedica® have been named one of Canada’s top cosmetic physicians and clinics by both Flare magazine and Toronto Life Magazines.

Dr. Mulholland co-developed, together with his California dermatology colleague, Dr. Patrick Bitter Jr., the popular FotoFacial™ and FotoFacial RF™ non-invasive skin enhancement procedures (www.fotofacialrf.com, see Laser Spa Services section of the SpaMedica® Website). Dr. Mulholland also invented the revolutionary non-surgical facelift procedure, The Pan G™ (www.panglift.com, see Medical Spa services section of this SpaMedica® website). Dr. Mulholland was the pioneer of the ThreadLift™, a revolutionary 30 minute non-surgical facelift www.threadlift.com). Dr. Mulholland has trained thousands of US, Canadian, European, and Asian physicians on the FotoFacial™ procedure, the Pan G™ non-surgical facelift, the ThreadLift™, Botox® technique, Injectable Fillers, and Laser Skin procedures. On any given day in North America there are over 10,000 FotoFacial™ procedures and Pan G™ non-surgical facelift treatments performed. Dr. Mulholland has appeared many times in the United States on NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX TV discussing and demonstrating his Aesthetic enhancement techniques.
