Who is a candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Women/Men over 18 years of age (those younger must be accompanied by a parent), who have unwanted body and facial hair may be candidates for laser hair removal. The best candidates are light-skinned individuals with dark hair. However, SpaMedica has many lasers and laser wavelengths that can safely treat all skin types and hair types.

What can I expect from a Laser Hair Removal treatment?

Permanent Laser Hair Reduction results are dependent on many factors such as color of the hair, color of the skin, exposure to the sun, energy level that can be safely used, and coarseness of the hair. All clients will require a minimum of 5 treatments, separated by approximately 4 to 8 weeks. Most clients notice a dramatic reduction and long delay in the number of hairs that grow back. Permanent reduction of up to 90% or more can be achieved. The hairs that do grow back are usually much lighter in color and finer in thickness. Most clients notice that the maximum number of hairs, which are destroyed, occurs after the 5th treatment.

Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?

A special cooling gel provides skin protection from the heat of the laser and our proprietary brand of topical numbing agents are applied to the skin for comfort during the treatment. Some Hair removal lasers also have integrated cooling to minimize the pain. The treatment is generally well tolerated.

Can I resume my daily activities after a Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

Yes! Immediately after the treatment, the area may be slightly red and puffy. This reaction subsides quickly making it possible to return to normal activities immediately. A “re-growth or stubble” may appear in 2-3 weeks. This is the old hair regrowth from the follicle, which will fall away from the skin easily with gentle rubbing. The area must be protected from the sun for 2 weeks and then a sunscreen should be used
