{ Nose Bridge Bump }
What is a nose bridge bump and what causes it?
Toronto nose bridge bump patients suffer from a very common aesthetic facial disproportion, specifically a bump, or hump on the bridge of the nose. Most nasal bridge bumps are caused as a result of hereditary development, as there is an overgrowth of the nasal cartilages and bones leading to a convexity or “bump” on the bridge of the nose. Occasionally, traumatic injury to the nose, suffered during adolescent or childhood development, can result in overgrowth of the bone and cartilage on the bridge of the nose leading to a bump as well. Aesthetically, bridge bumps can distract from more ideal nasal-facial proportions and are particularly bothersome to patients on profile pictures or pictures that are viewed mostly from the side. Nasal Bridge bumps can detract from otherwise harmonious nasal-facial proportions and are probably the most common cause that patients seek a nose job, or rhinoplasty surgery.
Can I treat my nose bump? And if so, how is it treated?
Toronto nose bump patients can be treated by Dr. Mulholland and SpaMedica® with a both non invasive and invasive procedure options. Dr. Stephen Mulholland, Toronto cosmetic plastic surgeon, has developed, pioneered and popularized an injectable nose job, or five minute nose job technique. During this injectable nose job technique the use of injectable fillers such as Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radius or Voluma can be used to inject just above and below the bridge bump leading to a smoothening of the bridge contour and a lessening of the visual appearance of the nasal bridge bump. This successful technique has allowed many bridge bump patients, who may be afraid of cosmetic plastic surgery, to improve their nasal-facial balance and proportion.
Dr. Stephen Mulholland, Toronto cosmetic plastic surgeon, has also been performing cosmetic rhinoplasty or nose job surgeries for over 15 years. During a cosmetic rhinoplasty procedure the bridge bump is reduced and the nasal width, length and other aesthetic proportions are rebalanced to optimize the various facial and nose proportions. Reduction of the nasal bridge bump is a relatively short procedure and is performed under general anesthesia and patients can usually return home the same day. Post operative care is generally relatively free of significant pain or discomfort and patients wear a cast for approximately one week and can return to work after its removal.
SpaMedica® and Dr. Stephen Mulholland have been serving Toronto nose bridge bump patients and rhinoplasty patients since 1997. Both Dr. Mulholland and SpaMedica® are one of Canada’s and Toronto’s most reputable, knowledgeable, experience and sought after cosmetic plastic surgeons and cosmetic plastic surgery centres.
If I have my nose bridge bump treated will it come back?
Recurrence of the nose bridge bump is extremely uncommon. Careful management and protection of the nose after your procedure while it’s healing will minimize the risk of any residual or recurrent bump or irregularity on the nasal bridge.
Cosmetic rhinoplasty for reduction of a bridge bump is one of the more common presenting complaints of cosmetic rhinoplasty patients and Toronto nose job patients and Toronto rhinoplasty patients can work with Dr. Mulholland using a computer imaging system to assess the kind of results they are likely to achieve. The use of a computer imaging system greatly reduces the anxiety and concern from Dr. Mulholland’s Toronto rhinoplasty patients and Toronto Nose job patients over what their nose and nasal, facial proportion aesthetics may look like after a procedure.
