The Kardashians aren’t shy when it comes to media attention. Whether you like them or not, the family has certainly influenced some women’s choices for plastic surgery. They are open about their interest and dabbling in plastic surgery, and their looks are what many women are asking for in their consultations with doctors. Their candidness about what they’ve had done has also helped normalize plastic surgery, especially among young adults. Below, we’ll talk about how the sisters have shaped the decisions of what some everyday, regular women have decided do for themselves.
The youngest of the family made headlines when she posted selfies with noticeably larger, fuller lips. After months of speculation and rumors, she finally made it clear and said that she had lip injections done to get the look. According to multiple sources, the demand for lip injections shot through the roof immediately after Kylie confirmed that she did have fillers. Kylie’s lips did have a role in the increase of lip augmentation procedures, but many surgeons agree that selfies and social media in general sparked interest in the treatment as well.
Khloé recently partnered with Kybella (also known as Belkyra in Canada) as their new ambassador for their campaign “Live Chin Up”. Kybella is a non-invasive procedure that uses injections to reduce fat underneath the chin area. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Khloé was very candid in her responses in regards to plastic surgery and non-invasive procedures. “I think plastic surgery should be viewed almost like makeup, because we’re all putting on a f*cking mask basically every day anyway,” she said. She elaborated that anyone can decide to have fillers or surgery done if they want as it’s their own personal decision.
Kim’s well-known for one of her assets (ahem). While she says she hasn’t had anything done to her infamous bottom, plenty of women have undergone Brazilian butt lifts to replicate Kim’s booty. Butt lifts and implants were the fastest growing types of plastic surgery in the U.S last year, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons statistics. One thing that she’s been candid about is her use of Botox. These injections help to keep her skin free of lines and wrinkles; she talked about her Botox experiences on her reality show as well.
More celebrities are opening up about what they’ve had done more than ever. The taboo of plastic surgery has diminished significantly with the openness of it in the media—and the Kardashians are definitely at the forefront of taking the stigma out of plastic surgery with their celebrity status.
