The original procedure was co-developed by Dr. Patrick Bitter, Jr. a cosmetic dermatologist and Dr. R. Stephen Mulholland, a plastic surgeon, bringing together the best of aesthetic dermatologic skin care and cosmetic plastic surgery into one non-invasive procedure. The procedure has increased in popularity and recognition to the point where it is now one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures in North America. Dr. Mulholland has trained over 5,000 physicians in the art of the FotoFacial and the procedure has been featured in Allure, Cosmopolitan, In Style, Vogue, USA today, and numerous national and regional TV shows such as the TODAY Show and Extreme Makeover. Many Hollywood stars and TV personalities rave about and credit this procedure for the renewed health and vitality in their skin. The FotoFacial is the next generation in high-tech skin enhancement.

Who is a candidate for a FotoFacial?

Individuals who desire improvement in fine lines, facial spider veins, blemishes and brown spots on the face, neck, chest and hands will benefit from FotoFacials. Sun damaged skin, aging skin, oily skin with enlarged pores and acne scarring are also good candidates.

What happens during the treatment?

Treatments involve the use of Radio Frequency, Intense Pulsed Light and Infrared energy pulsed gently on the skin to target fine lines, facial spider veins, blemishes and brown spots of the face, neck, chest and hands. The treatment stimulates the production of your own collagen and after approximately 5 treatments the fine lines appear smoother. The pulsed light also fades spider veins, brown spots and sun-damaged skin. FotoFacials produce a smoother, youthful, vital and less-blemished looking skin.

Your SpaMedica in-office treatment program will be complimented with a recommendation for our medical grade Home Skin Care which will help support and enhance your FotoFacial skin rejuvenation results.

Is there downtime with a FotoFacial Treatment?

Most clients have little to no side effects. Unlike laser resurfacing or more aggressive laser skin treatments, FotoFacials attack the deeper layer of your skin (dermis) under the epidermis (outer layer). Following treatment, some may find the skin to be light pink (flushed and this fades within a few hours and is recognized as a positive reaction to the treatment. The skin feels soft and even immediately after the procedure. Studies show wrinkles and blemishes improve significantly in over over 80% of clients after 5 treatments. The client can reapply makeup and return to work, activities, etc. immediately after treatment. It takes approximately 5 treatments to achieve best results following a FotoFacial Treatment, depending on the skin type and condition.

What areas can be treated?

The face, the neck, chest, hands, the arms, legs, back and the chest are the most commonly treated areas.
