The Best Ways to See if Rhinoplasty is Right for You

The best ways to see if rhinoplasty is right for you

It isn’t uncommon for patients to come into the office and show their plastic surgeon photos of their dream nose that belongs to a celebrity or another person. This helps the physicians to better understand what the patient likes and desires as their rhinoplasty results. However, attaining this dream nose isn’t always possible. That’s because every person has different facial features and proportions that balance each other out. Even though the particular features and look of a nose looks good on one celebrity, it won’t necessarily look good on somebody else’s face.

Whether it’s a crooked nose bridge or a bulbous tip, it’s possible to correct several nasal concerns with this procedure. While a nose job is considered as one of the most difficult procedures to perform, the demand for it is high as it can make a real impact and improvement in a person’s appearance and self-esteem. In the U.S alone, over 145,387 procedures were performed last year according to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Deciding on surgery is tough enough. Figuring out what changes to make and what will complement your other facial features is another area to navigate. Below are just a few ways to help you find out what may (or may not) work for you.

Try 3D Imaging and Online Apps

Before and After Rhinoplasty on FaceTouchUp

We used the FaceTouchUp app to digitally manipulate this model’s nose.

Many plastic surgeons include 3D imaging in consultations to give you a better idea of what you can expect after surgery. A photo of your face and nose will be taken and then it can be digitally rendered to help you visualize the potential results you may see. This service is typically complimentary; look for a physician who includes this in consultations to help you see the difference surgery can make for you.

It’s also possible to manipulate your own photos in your own home. We offer an online app called FaceTouchUp. It allows you to upload your own photos to visualize your plastic surgery results for free. It’s also worthy to note that you’re not limited to just rendering your facial features—you can tweak other body parts, too.

Temporary Rhinoplasty Injections

Injection Rhinoplasty Before and After Photo in Toronto

This patient had a 5 minute nose job (injection rhinoplasty).

What better way is there to test drive a nose job than to have a temporary one? The 5 minute nose job, also known as injection rhinoplasty, changes the appearance of your nose within minutes. This non-surgical treatment involves the use of soft tissue fillers to correct many nasal concerns. The results are temporary, lasting anywhere from one to two years. This treatment allows you to see and live with your new nose; if you’re ready to commit to the results, you can undergo a surgical rhinoplasty for permanent results. If not, then the results wear off over time.

The decision is ultimately up to you if you feel you need the surgery. A physician may be able to deliver a difference and improvement in your nose, but the final decision is up to you to undergo surgery or not. It’s not your surgeon, friends or family who can tell you what to do in the end. If your nose is an insecurity that has troubled you for too long, then know that there are surgical and non-surgical options for you to explore.
