Three nonsurgical facelifts worth your money!

November 27, 2018

In our current age of advanced technology and information sharing, it’s no surprise that more people than ever are interested in the myriad cosmetic procedures available today that don’t require patients to go under the knife! Many patients nowadays want to look younger but don’t want to undergo surgery, and are instead opting for noninvasive facelift options. A nonsurgical facelift can incorporate any number of different treatments and procedures aimed at addressing the effects of aging. Dr. Mulholland can help determine which are best for meeting your unique esthetic goals.

Here are three of the most popular nonsurgical facelift procedures offered at our SpaMedica clinic in Toronto:

  1. The “vampire facial”

The PRP (platelet-rich plasma) facial is commonly known as the “vampire lift” (when injected), or the “vampire facial” (when applied topically and combined with fractional laser treatments). Regardless of how it’s administered, the technique offers a wonderful way to achieve facial tone and texture improvement, as well as facial contour restoration. Patients have their blood drawn, and the vial is then placed in a special centrifuge that separates the PRP segment, which is of particular importance in the repair of damaged vessels and clotting. The PRP can then be applied or injected into or under the skin to provide enhanced tissue repair and all-around facial rejuvenation! Treatments may be repeated every four months and combined with other procedures for optimal results.

  1. Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are perfect if your skin has lines, wrinkles, furrows, or lacks volume. They are also a popular choice due to the significantly lower cost compared to traditional facelift procedures. Hyaluronic acid or sugar gel is injected into the skin to plump and lift cheeks, jawlines, and temples, fill out thin lips and make skin look youthful. Many choose to return to SpaMedica and repeat the procedure after a year or so to maintain their wrinkle-free effects. There are also numerous additional facial cosmetic procedures that can enhance the results of your dermal fillers, such as VolumaLift, a soft tissue filler injection developed by Dr. Mulholland to shape, sculpt, and lift facial features.

  1. Botox

While dermal fillers “fill out” or plump areas that have lost volume and smoothness, Botox injections relax the facial muscles that are responsible for facial movement, thereby reducing and softening signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles. Botox is a purified non-animal protein that blocks muscle contractions, giving you a well-rested, youthful look. After 4-6 months, your body’s enzymes break down the compound, at which time you can get another treatment if you so choose. Common areas for treatment include the “worry lines” on the forehead, and “crow’s feet” around the sides of the eyes.

  1. The Profound

The Profound is a high tech, radiofrequency microneedling system that deposits thermally regulated and controlled heat into the lax skin of the face, neck, jawline, and brow to induce tightening and lifting. It is minimally invasive, does not involve any cuts or excisions, and is performed under local anesthesia. In general, tightening and elevation of 30%, 40% or even 50% can be achieved! Treatment is performed once every 2-3 months to maintain the Profound lift effect.
