What exactly is a Belt Lift and what can it do for you?

July 10, 2019

A Belt Lift, aka a belt lipectomy, or a male tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure designed especially for men. Its purpose: to address any stretched or lax abdominal skin, typically the result of aging or significant weight loss. An incision is placed directly above the groin area with great care to keep any scarring expertly concealed. Lax skin is then removed, effectively flattening the stomach area, and providing men with an invaluable, game-changing boost in confidence. Additionally, for those with excess fat along the flanks, hips, or buttocks, a Belt Lift can be combined with supplemental techniques such as male liposuction for the best possible results!

The Belt Lift or Male Tummy Tuck procedure in Toronto at SpaMedica

Depending on your unique needs, a Belt Lift can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. You will be given local anaesthetic and IV sedation, and if your male tummy tuck procedure is combined with other techniques, such as male liposuction, general anaesthesia may be recommended as well. We will start by making a thin, vertical incision directly above the groin. From there, the skin will be lifted and pulled to allow for the removal of any undesirable tissue. Once the desired results have been attained, any remaining tissue is pulled taut and sutured inconspicuously below the pubic hairline.

Results: what to expect

Although a Belt Lift can’t create the appearance of a six-pack, you can expect the procedure to improve your shape and skin tone, flatten your stomach area, and do away with any drooping skin along your belt line. The male tummy tuck procedure will significantly tighten your abdominal tissue, improving its overall appearance. Many men find they look and feel better and more confident knowing that their clothes fit better and that others have a different first impression of them. A lot can be said for not feeling self-conscious at the gym or the pool! If you have lost a substantial amount of weight, you may additionally be struggling with skin laxity in other areas of your body. The good news? Your Belt Lift can be part of a combined treatment plan unique to you, and paired with a neck lift, arm lift, or thigh lift during the same procedure.

Belt Lift Maintenance

The results of your Belt Lift can last for many years provided you eat a healthy diet and stay in shape. Your skin, however, will continue aging and may become lax again down the line. To keep these inevitable and natural changes in check, we typically recommend radiofrequency energy treatments like Venus Freeze, or Forma Plus, starting at 8-10 weeks post-op. To truly maintain optimal results, committing to maintenance treatments once every 3 months is a smart way to go.
