How Long Does It Take to Recover From a Radiesse Treatment?
Patients will be able to return to their normal routine almost immediately after the procedure, as little to no downtime is required. However, please note that exercise should be postponed for the first 24-48 hours.
How Long Does a Radiesse Take?
The length of the procedure depends on the desired outcome of the patient. However, on average, Radiesse treatments take 15-30 minutes.
What is Radiesse?
A Radiesse treatment refers to a dermal filler that is often sought out to treat lost volume. Unlike Juvederm and Restylane, Radiesse is not a gel but a particulate stimulant that mimics connective tissue. Radiesse is made up of tiny, microscopic particles of calcium hydroxyapatite dissolved in a suspension. These little particles act as a “biological stimulant” for your body to make collagen around the particles.
Combination is The Key
SpaMedica has some of the most experienced physician and nurse injectors and the widest selection of dermal fillers in Canada. At the time of your consultation, your consult coordinator will review the best combination of dermal fillers to provide the results you are looking for.
SpaMedica is Canada’s largest, oldest, and most respected private cosmetic laser center. Why are there so many dermal fillers available? The answer is simple: soft tissue filler results are often only achieved by the customized combination of two or more dermal filler products that work in different yet synergistic and summative ways. Your dermal filler options at SpaMedica include:
● Juvederm
● Teosyal
● Sculptra
● Bellafill (Artecoll)
Who is a Radiesse Candidate?
There is no particular age restriction for Radiesse treatment, and no specific trait defines a “good” candidate. However, as is the case with most cosmetic procedures, good candidates should have logical expectations concerning the risks and benefits of the procedure.
Risks of Radiesse
Like all procedures, Radiesse treatment comes with the risk of potential complications. SpaMedica has been performing these treatments for over 20 years, and the risk of a significant complication is extremely low. These Radiesse risks have been reported:
Redness
In most cases, redness is resolved a day or two after the treatment.
Tenderness
Facial skin is particularly tender after the treatment.
Itching
While it is likely that patients will experience some itchiness after the surgery, most discomfort is diminished after the first week.
Bruising
Bruising is typically minimal but can occasionally be visible after the surgery.
Why Choose SpaMedica for Radiesse?

Non-Surgical Radiesse Alternatives
Other Dermal Fillers and Morpheus8 are available alternatives to Radiesse.
How to Prepare for Radiesse
Prior to your treatment, our team will review your medications and medical history. To minimize the risk of excessive bruising, please ensure that you have not taken any aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatories several weeks before the procedure.
What to Expect After a Radiesse Treatment
Following your Radiesse treatment, the SpaMedica team will recommend a postoperative care regime. This regime will include instructions about avoiding physical activity, abstaining from alcohol and smoking, and minimizing exposure to the sun.
Radiesse Recovery and Timeline
Immediately After the Treatment: Patients should avoid applying pressure to the treatment area and making extreme facial expressions for at least 24 hours after the treatment.
1 Day After the Treatment: Discomfort, itchiness, tenderness, and swelling at the injection site should subside.
2 Days After the Treatment: Patients can resume doing physical activities.
One Week after the Treatment: Your filler should have settled by now, and you can see your results.
14-16 Months After the Treatment: The effects of the Radiesse treatment have subsided, and patients are advised to schedule another appointment.
