ThermiVA is a non-ablative radiofrequency vaginal heating device. It is specially constructed to treat the tissues and structures of the lax vaginal canal; the vaginal side walls, ceiling and floor of the vagina and the entire vaginal canal. It rejuvenates the vaginal lining, increase vaginal tightening; improve the symptoms of vaginal relaxation syndrome and the genitourinary signs of menopause and vulvovaginal atrophy. Similar to the FORMA V, the ThermiVA is temperature controlled and non-ablative. The FORMA V uses multiple electrodes, whereas the ThermiVA is a monopolar RF (radiofrequency) system.
It requires a ground pad to connect the patient. ThermiVA rejuvenation treatment takes 30 to 45 minutes and is performed once a month for three months.
There are several SpaMedica Vaginal tightening devices such as the Mona Lisa Touch fractional CO2 laser vaginal procedure, the Syneron CORE Intima, the V-Tite and the Fractora V. All these vaginal tightening and rejuvenation procedures are performed by Dr. Sasha himself at out Toronto Clinic.
Both are non-ablative devices. FORMA V and ThermiVA are temperature-controlled non-ablative radiofrequency heating devices, which heat the vaginal mucosa and sub-mucosal tissue. This leads to a more youthful vaginal epithelium, enhanced mucinous secretion to combat dryness and irritation of postmenopausal or post-Tamoxifen symptomatology. Both treatments also decrease the symptoms of stress incontinence, dysuria and of painful intercourse. Of course, the atrophic signs of postmenopausal vaginal environment will return if maintenance treatments are not undertaken.
The ThermiVA probe is inserted into the vaginal canal where gentle RF waves heath the vaginal lining comfortably. The vaginal lining is heated to comfortable levels that produce new collagen and ground substances leading to a firmer tighter vaginal canal with reduced symptoms of vaginal atrophy.
Risks and Side Effects
ThermiVA, like the FORMA V and other non-ablative radiofrequency devices, is a gentle-heating, temperature-controlled technology, there is no pain associated with it. Patients can return to normal activities immediately.
