What is a Botox® Treatment?
Botox® Cosmetic is a purified non-animal protein that, when expertly injected into selected facial and neck muscles, will improve the look of moderate-to-severe lines. Botox® works by temporarily blocking the nerve impulses to the injected muscles, thus reducing muscle activity that causes persistent lines to form on the face and neck. Botox® must be administered by a healthcare professional and is a low discomfort, nonsurgical treatment. Botox® can also be expertly used to produce a non-surgical Botox® Brow lift, Botox® Cheek lift, Botox® Corner of the Mouth Lift and Botox® Neck Lift effects.
Your SpaMedica in office Botox® treatment program will be complimented with a recommendation for our medical grade Home Skin Care which will help support and enhance your Botox® results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Who is a candidate for Botox®?
Individuals with expression lines who desire a more youthful, less wrinkles or furrowed appearance are the best candidates for Botox®. Individuals that have a droopy brow, cheek, “corner-of-the-moth” and droopy neck, who desire a Botox® Lift effect and not surgery, are also candidates for a Botox® treatment
What happens during a Botox® treatment?
Botox® is injected around deep expression lines of the forehead and bridge of nose, crows feet, lip lines or droopy brows, cheeks, corner of the mouth, or neck that are caused by overactive muscles of expression and those muscles that pull down the face, also known as he facial depressors. The Botox® treatment takes about 15 – 30 minutes to perform. Botox® injections can be performed with topical anesthetic cream to reduce the mild skin discomfort of the procedure. Most clients return to work immediately after treatment with little to no discoloration or only slight bruising, that will disappear quickly and can be camouflaged with make-up. The muscle is relaxed over a period of several days and the expression lines soften dramatically, becoming less noticeable. The Botox® “lift effect” of the brow, cheek, nose, jawline and/or neck will also occur over several days
How long will a Botox® treatment last?
Results usually last 3 - 6 months, when a repeat injection can be performed, to maintain the aesthetic results indefinitely.
What areas can be treated with Botox®?
Areas which are treated with botox may include: lip lines, dimpled chin, mouth frown, gummy smile, neck bands, open eyes, bunny lines, v-neck lines, frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, brow lift and necklace lines. In addition, if a Botox® Lift effect is desired, then droopines of the brow, cheek, undereye, cheek, “corner-of-the-mouth” and neck may be treated with Botox® to obtain an elevated, non-surgical lift effect.
How much is a Botox® treatment?
SpaMedica treatment professionals charge by the unit of Botox® used. This way we can ensure you receive the least amount of botox to produce the best treatment for your aesthetic concerns at a reasonable price. During your consultation, the SpaMedica treatment professional and/or Dr R. Stephen Mulholland will discuss the amount of units you will require and will provide you with an ”on-the-spot” quote.
